NPL Week 14 – Results!

The Baboons edge out the Javelineers for the Prophet Division title! Brent throws down the gauntlet to Cari and delivers the knockout punch to claim the Psychic Division banner for the third year running! Samuel falls short of the Wild Card, the only team with a winning record that won’t be in the NPL postseason! Adam looks to repeat for the Seer Cup, representing the Foreteller Division as back-to-back champ! Brian gets a timely win to rise to the top of the Oracle Division! Rachel posts back to back 10-win seasons, claiming another Augur Division banner! Corey shocked as Laci will raise the Auspex Division banner in the end! Kevin squeaks out a Sage Division title despite a .500 record! Ethan gets a timely no-show from Steven and a rough showing from Corey to somehow sneak into the playoffs as a Wild Card! Surprise! The NPL added two more Wild Card teams and didn’t tell anyone in the league! It’s the NPL, Week 14 and season recap!

NPL Upset of the Week

Ricky was the only one that saw this one coming (and that includes every ESPN analyst as well), earning a Supreme Solo Soothsayer by choosing the Saints to upset the Bucs! Nicely done, Ricky! The Saints pull off the most impressive NPL Upset of the Week this season, overcoming a monumental 97.5 Underdog Rating!

Kelly vs Ryan

Kelly finished 14th in the NPL in pick accuracy and #1 in the NPL in Quality Week Points, thanks to two 9-correct weeks! She started the season strong, going 5-2 in the first half, but gave away a win in Week 10 and ended up settling for a Wild Card.

Ryan finished t-5th in the NPL in pick accuracy on eight Quality Weeks, finishing strong with back to back wins to jump Michael in the Prophet Division and Samuel in the Wild Card hunt. He’s playoff bound on an 8-6 record!

Ethan vs Michael

Ethan couldn’t put a win streak together, but did put together two different losing streaks, which is impressive on its own. He finished t-15th in pick accuracy on five Quality Weeks, and as fate would have it, the chips fell exactly as he needed them, so he snagged the final Wild Card spot at 7-7!

Michael finished a respectable 9th place in pick accuracy in 2025 on eight Quality Weeks, but that Prophet Division was too hotly contested and he finished last there in both the standings and accuracy, narrowly losing out on a Wild Card thanks to this final week loss.

Miranda vs Berkenbile

Miranda struggled to submit her picks this season, giving away three wins en route to a league-worst 13-game losing streak and 1-13 record. She finished last in accuracy, and 2nd to last in Quality Weeks. She’ll come back strong next year, make no mistake.

Berkenbile just edged out Josh atop the Prophet Division to take home the championship banner in 2025, besting his rival by just two correct picks on the year. Berkenbile finished 2nd in the NPL in pick accuracy and 2nd in Quality Week points on 9 Quality Weeks (t-3rd).

Chris vs Erik

Another game, another OT loss for Chris. That’s his 5th on the season, which highlights the importance of nailing down a good feel for how teams are performing when it comes to that MM score. Chris finished t-5th in the NPL in accuracy, t-2nd in accuracy in the Clarivoyant Conference, but will be a spectator this postseason after finishing 6-8.

Erik had a shaky second half, finishing 4-3, but his 5-2 opening half was enough to escape the Wild Card hunt with a playoff berth. Erik settled in at 20th in the NPL in accuracy on only six Quality Weeks, but that hot start was good enough to get him to the postseason.

Joel vs Matt
NPL Title Belt Match!

Joel had a fantastic stretch from Week 5 through Week 13, going 8-1 in that span to put himself in a great position to claim the Oracle Division banner, but fell short here in Week 14. Joel finished t-5th in the NPL in pick accuracy, thanks to ten Quality Weeks, and enters the postseason as the Clairvoyant Conference’s top Wild Card seed.

Matt claimed that NPL Title Belt back in Week 9 and never looked back. He closed out the 2025 season on an 11-game winning streak, was the first to clinch their division, and finished 3rd in the NPL in pick accuracy on eight Quality Weeks. Matt snags 2025’s NPL Player of the Year for his performance this season.

Brian vs Samuel

It came down to the wire, but Brian held off Joel to snag the Oracle Division championship banner! He finishes 10-4 on the year and #1 in the NPL in pick accuracy – his second time leading the league since joining in 2020. He earns the Clairvoyant Conference’s first round Bye as the top seed!

Samuel crumbled a bit in the closing weeks of the season, this loss marking four L’s in the final five weeks. That performance narrowly cost him a Wild Card appearance in the Soothsayer Conference, where he finished 3rd in the Mystic Division at 8-6. Samuel finished 19th in pick accuracy on five Quality Weeks, and is the only team in the NPL with a winning record to miss the playoffs. Ouch.

Steven vs Vince

Steven probably should be planning his playoff gameplan, but he fell apart in the second half of the season, finishing 2-5 while giving one of those away as a Free Win (this one, actually). Steven finished 27th in pick accuracy with six Quality Weeks, and simply needed to win this game to make the postseason. Bad one to miss!

Not to be outdone by Ethan, Vince managed three separate 3-game losing streaks this season, two of them via Free Wins he gifted his opponents by not submitting his picks. But, he was in the thick of it until the final few weeks of the season. Unfortunately, he dropped three of his final four games and settled in at 5-9 on the year, last in the Mystic Division. Vince was 29th in pick accuracy on two Quality Weeks.

Kevin vs Adam

After starting the season on a 5-2 run, Kevin damn near gave the Sage Division away, finishing on a 3-game losing streak to settle in at 7-7. Fortunately for him, his pick accuracy (t-15th) was best in the division, so while Axell was able to tie in record, Kevin takes it with the tiebreaker! Kevin claims his fourth consecutive Sage Division championship banner!

Adam had a lukewarm start as the defending champ, going 1-3 to start the season, but stormed back by winning seven of his last ten! His pick accuracy placed him at 11th in the NPL on seven Quality Weeks and guided him to his second consecutive Foreteller Division title!

DaVena vs Brandon

I made this joke before, but DaVena was like Dollar Store window cleaner: streaky. She won her first, the rattled off six losses in a row, countered with three wins in a row, and finished with another four losses in a row. She finished 26th in the NPL in pick accuracy on five Quality Weeks and faced the toughest schedule in the NPL. Still, she finished only three games back of the division lead, so it was closer than her 4-10 record looks.

Brandon tied for the division lead in correct picks, finishing t-11th in the NPL in pick accuracy and 3rd in Quality Week points on nine Quality Weeks. But he was dealt a rough hand, facing one of the toughest schedules this season. At one point, he had a 4-game losing streak when he guessed 7 picks correctly. That’s a bad break!

Axell vs LeScoot

Axell got the loss he was hoping for from Kevin, but couldn’t hang on against the LeScavengers to close out the year. The loss knocks Axell to 7-7 on the season, just barely missing out on a Wild Card in the pick accuracy tiebreaker. He finished 23rd overall in pick accuracy on six Quality Weeks, but I sure bet he wished he had this one back.

LeScoot finished 13th in the NPL in pick accuracy on six Quality Weeks, but had a horrendous stretch in the middle of the season, dropping every game from Week 5 to Week 10. He finished last in the Foreteller Division at 5-9, but it wasn’t a terrible season in terms of picks.

Jennifer vs Bette

Jennifer had a strong second half, even after dropping this last game to Bette. In those final seven games, she won four outright and dropped two to the MM tiebreaker. Her pick accuracy placed her 24th overall on six Quality Weeks. A win here would have put her in contention for a Wild Card, but she comes up short.

Bette couldn’t find her footing this year, trading wins for losses for the entirety of the season it seemed. She closed out the year on a 3-4 run, which ultimately cost her a shot at the Foreteller division title, but she had a strong season in terms of picks. She finished t-15th in pick accuracy on five Quality Weeks and finished 3rd in the division at 6-8.

Laci vs Jerry

What a finish! Laci finished 3rd in her division, and 25th overall, in pick accuracy this season, so she needed a strong finish to push for the division title, as Wild Card tiebreakers would have not played out in her favor. She won four of her last five, and got a timely Corey loss in this final week, to jump to the top of the Auspex Division with an 8-6 record! Division champs!

Jerry needed things to play out in his favor in this final week: a win, a Brent loss, and a solid performance to move up in pick accuracy. He got none of those things. This loss drops him to 5-9 on the season, with three of those wins coming after Week 9. Jerry finished 21st in pick accuracy on just four Quality Weeks, and finished just two games back in the Psychic Division.

Travis vs Ricky

Travis was right in the thick of things in the Auspex Division until about Week 9. That’s when the wheels fell off the wagon a bit. He closed out the year on a bummer of a 1-5 stretch, finishing 30th in pick accuracy on two Quality Weeks for the season. A better second half and Travis would be right in the hunt, but it wasn’t in the cards in 2025 for the Tichorrhines.

Ricky started out looking like the same ol’ Ricky that inspired the Golden Rock Lobster season award, but he really rallied in the second half of the season. After starting 1-7, he closed out the year on a 4-2 stretch to finish 5-9. But, there’s a lot of room for improvement here. Ricky finished 31st in pick accuracy and was the only player in the NPL to not record a Quality Week of 7+ correct picks all season long, which is rare!

Andrew vs Cari

The 2023 Auspex Division champion got started on the wrong foot, losing his first four games of the 2025 season. Andrew won five of his next six, though, and was positioning himself for another division title until the collapse hit. Andrew closed out the year with a 1-3 record over the final four weeks, and finished with a respectable 22nd overall pick accuracy on six Quality Weeks, but missed the playoffs with that ill-timed losing streak in Weeks 11-13.

I’ve never silently cheered on another team as much as I rooted for Cari this season. She started strong out of the gate, going 4-2, to really get my hopes up. She hung in there to the end, though. She was a win (and a Brent loss) away from a Psychic Division title, which would have been her second ever! Cari closed out at 28th in pick accuracy on four Quality Weeks.

Corey vs Brent

What a rough way to end the season for Corey. Corey entered Week 14 needing to win to snag the division title. But worse yet, even with a loss, he’d simply need to out perform Ethan for the final Wild Card spot, as both were sitting at 79 correct picks! Corey finished one pick behind Ethan and watched that final Wild Card slip away. He settles for 2nd in the Auspex at 7-7, with the 18th best pick accuracy on seven Quality Weeks.

It was “win and you’re in” for Brent, for the most part, and he delivered in Week 14 with a nice Quality Week victory over Corey here. He had a rocky close to the season, though, losing four of his final six games, all by MM tiebreaker! Still, he walks away with his third consecutive (8th total) Psychic Division championship banner! Brent finished 10th in pick accuracy on nine quality weeks, tying for 3rd in Quality Week Points.

Rachel vs Josh
Game of the Week

Rachel brought a six-game winning streak to PRIIIIIIIME TIIIIIIIME to go against Josh’s four-game winning streak and try to play spoiler for the home team. Josh escaped, barely, with the MM tiebreaker win, but Rachel got the last laugh, finishing one game better in the league standings, 10 wins to Josh’s nine.

Rachel started the year off defending the NPL Title Belt three times after taking the Seer Cup rematch against Adam in Week 1, but hit a little skid with a three game losing streak. She finished strong, right up there with Matt and Josh, winning six of her last seven, this being the lone loss in that stretch. Rachel finished t-5th in the NPL in pick accuracy, t-3rd in Quality Week Points on nine Quality Weeks, and finished with the t-2nd best record in the NPL at 10-4, her second consecutive year with ten wins, to claim her second consecutive Augur Division championship!

Josh was not liking the way 2025 was shaping up after his 0-4 start, but he had one of the strongest finishes in the league, winning nine of his last ten, seven of those as Quality Weeks. Josh finished 4th in the NPL in pick accuracy (after setting the NPL record last season) and 7th in Quality Week Points on eight Quality Weeks. He climbed from the cellar to finish 9-5 on the season, claiming the top seeded Wild Card after missing the Prophet Division title by just three correct picks!
